The Chinese Speaking Orthopaedic Society (CSOS) has successfully launched its official journal, Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, in September, 2006. It is an online journal published via BioMed Central with the aim to expeditiously publish clinical and basic research studies related to musculoskeletal issues in different cultural communities. It is an open access journal that will be freely available to all readers and all articles will be immediately deposited in PubMed Central.

The publication in the journal will be translated into Chinese and regularly compiled into printed issues. The Inaugural Issue has been released in September, 2006, and 10,000 printed copies will be freely distributed in Mainland China. This will further help disseminate the updates and advances in orthopaedics to surgeons, especially those who are in the Chinese speaking societies where English is not their first language. We believe that the Journal will serve as a good platform for exchange of ideas and knowledge among orthopaedic surgeons all over the world. It will also act as a great milestone for Orthopaedic development in China.
