Presidential Message - 新年贺辞
|
各位：
鼠年即将过去, 在迎接新一年的同时, 回望2008, 中国在这一年里经历了全世界瞩目的两件大事──令人惊喜的奥运和令人惊讶的四川地震。
对于奥运，我们心中有无限的骄傲；对于四川地震，我们心里更是充满了暖意。的确，天灾夺去了无数人的性命，但人间的温情和关爱由此而生。这种人与人之间的互相照料和舍己的利他精神，更使我们引以为豪。
本着一颗中国心，华裔骨科学会深深地感受到四川受难同胞的伤痛，因此，我们在灾难后不久就发起了“站起来”计划，祈望能在灾区出一点绵力。皇天不负有心人，计划推行至今已经有8个月，不少的伤员都慢慢地“站起来”，重新踏上人生路。
一切总会过去的。无论在过去的一年，各位的经历如何，在农历新年到来前，我祝愿各位身体健康！天行健，君子以自强不息！

Presidential Message - Lunar New Year Greeting from the President
|
Lunar 2008 will be history soon. In the past year, two big events happened in China, the heartening Olympics and heartrending Sichuan earthquake.
While we are proud to receive the enormous success of the Beijing Olympics, the 512 Sichuan earthquake was indeed a big blow to our nation and its people. The disaster took away lives and home. But it also breeds love. The altruism and sacrifice witnessed are even more heartwarming.
With our empathy and identity as Chinese, we quickly reacted to the disaster by launching an earthquake-relieving project called “StandTall”. The impact is encouraging and beyond our expectation; many of earthquake victims have benefited from the project and now can “StandTall” on their own.
Good and evil, all will be bygones. It is the future that matters. By the Lunar New Year of 2009, I sincerely wish you all good health and strong spirit.
